Updated: Jun 12

Read below for an important update regarding upcoming changes to the FMCSA Licensing & Insurance (L&I) systems that will impact insurance filings.

Transition to the New MOTUS Platform

Effective end of business on May 14, 2026, the FMCSA L&I systems will be taken offline indefinitely as the agency transitions to its new MOTUS platform.

Shutdown Information

  • Date & Time: FMCSA’s legacy filing system will be shut down on Thursday, May 14 at 8:00 PM ET.

  • No Filing Capability: There will be no ability to submit Federal filings from May 14 at 8:00 PM ET through Monday, May 18 (exact time TBD).

Important Considerations

  • Filings will not post to FMCSA during the system transition period.

  • Processing timelines may be extended once MOTUS becomes available due to the required manual submission process.

  • The bulk filing process will not be immediately available when MOTUS goes live.

  • Agents should prepare for any transactions requiring filings and plan for additional time for potential delays.
